B.A.R.C. Meetings: Fourth Tuesday of the month, 7PM at the Barrow Medical Center, 3rd floor conference room. Click here for directions.

B.A.R.C. Club Net meets every Monday Evening at 7:00 PM on 145.130 MHz. (-)
Barrow County ARES Net meets every Sunday Evening at 7:00 PM on 146.55 MHz Simplex

B.A.R.C. was formed in 2007 to provide fellowship between amateurs and interested parties, and serve the community, especially in times of disaster.  Barrow Amateur Radio Club is dedicated to the idea of providing communications via amateur radio in time of need to assist any organization or government entity that is involved in providing aid at a time when regular communication modes are not operational.  At other times the club provides training in net operation, equipment efficiency evaluation, equipment portability options and exercises to prove our capability.  We also discuss other aspects of Ham Radio and have fun.

We would be honored if you took the time to visit with us at our next meeting!

Extra Class Starting This Fall

The Extra Class will start Thursday, September 9th.  These classes will begin at 7:00 PM and nominally end at 9:00 PM.  The classes will meet for thirteen weeks ending on December 9, 2010.  There will be a W5YI Volunteer examination on that evening.  Other classes of license exams will be available to others that night, so tell your friends that may want to test to come on in.   The only Thursday we will not meet is November 25, due to Thanksgiving. Textbooks to be used will be the ARRL License Manual for Extra Class. You want the edition that is good through June 30, 2012.   You can buy the books from me for $25.00. Any profits go to the Club Treasury.  I will need the money for the books by Monday, August 30th for delivery before the class starts. You can also get the book at HRO, The ARRL, or online at Amazon.com.  I will not have extra books at the class.  If you get a used book from a friend make certain it is the correct edition.  If you are interested in joining the class or have more questions, please contact Cal K4JSR by email at cneff1@windstream.net

Calendar Of Events (Updated)

If you were unable to attend the July club meeting, you can download a copy of the B.A.R.C. calendar of events.  These are activities that we will focus on for the remainder of 2010.  Club interest and participation will determine our level of involvement.  In addition, we are looking for volunteers to chair some of the events listed.
